August 2021 Covid-19 Update

Back in May of this year restrictions were lifted and we were able to somewhat feel a little normalcy again after such a long period of time in isolation. We were able to get back to in-person dining, we have been going to more outings, concerts, and family events, and we have been able to travel a bit. However, in the news lately and as reported on the MASS.GOV website, the number of infections is on the rise. This is for vaccinated and non-vaccinated alike.

At this time, the Board of Directors at Learn to Cope and I have decided it’s best to continue with our virtual meetings as opposed to going back to in-person meetings. We feel it’s not worth the risk until we know it is completely safe to do so. This is especially true for those who have underlying health conditions, or those who live with someone that does. There are many establishments where we held our meetings that are not ready to have crowds coming back in. Many are now requiring masks again.

Our virtual meetings are offering such great support and are well attended. Along with support we have been able to offer education, resources, and Hope, including online Narcan training and delivery either by mail or to the front step. The one thing we all miss is those in-person hugs.

We miss those who have not come to our virtual groups; we would love to see you! If anyone needs an ear, please call us at 508-738-5148, or you can still join our discussion board at to communicate with others there.

We are still working on our plan to return to in-person groups, while also keeping virtual groups available for those who live in areas that make it difficult for them to get to a meeting in the first place. We do not yet have a definitive date as to when that will happen. We will continue to watch the data and revisit this again in the next coming months.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. Wishing you and your family a healthy fall!
